From Cola to OIL

Bottle it!

One of the folk stories surrounding the great success of Coca Cola is their sales took off multifold when the company decided in the early part of the last century to bottle the product and sell it in addition to the large fountain format that stays where it is. (You can read the story on their website)

Game Changer

View carefully - it’s a game changer moment for Coca Cola from fountain form that can't be moved from one place to another and whatever sales that could take place from fountain could be sold at that place only while the bottle can be quickly transported across the world to your refrigerator and available on demand supported by a completely different set of logistics.

Can you Replicate?

The essence of the story is, if you could change the format to your product that could be easily transported, then it could do wonders (at-least in cola case) to your supply chain i.e. easier, faster, manageable size, quantity, sales point, on demand and many more benefits but can it be applied across the industry even if so, can this be done in Oil & Gas (O&G)?

But... What Happens if a True Game Changer Comes Across?

Imagine a case where you could take out 5-10% of O&G pollutants from the sky that could significantly reduce global warming, which is a lot of relief to the human beings and the whole world at large and won't it be nice if we can do something a lot cheaper with lower Capex, Opex, easier to bottle, transport while meeting petroleum standards ? ... ah then that’s a real Game changer indeed.

Already a Few to Mention…

In fact a few are already there such as LPG (Propane / Butane) which is bottled and sold as cooking gas across the world. Similarly lubricants for industrial and automotive vehicles in small (kegs, drums, bottles, sachets etc) that follow a different set of logistics route and treated as FMCG product category.

Added to it is Coke produced from refineries are utilised for power generation, though highly polluting but serves a limited purpose in terms of power generation at competitive price

One important product on the same line with intense capital and action is the development of LNG ( liquified Natural gas) involving compression and refrigeration of natural gas to reduce the gas volume to 1/600th to liquify and transport across the world. Its less polluting comparatively but the adoption in consumer countries is not faster owing to fuel price, Capex, supply chain needs etc... but said to dominate in the future

None of the above is enough to slow down or reverse global warming (due to increased product demand) nor a significant percentage of refined products!

Make your Wish?

If we could still produce such a product and make it available to you, then which of the petroleum products would you like to bottle?

Awaiting to hear you

Let’s together make the world live-able!
